During her 70 years of prophetic ministry Ellen White was given numerous divinely inspired messages for individuals and for the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  These messages of instruction, reproof, and encouragement nurtured and guided the church during the early decades, and were designed to help lead God's people until the day of ultimate triumph. She also wrote more than 5,000 articles on a wide variety of subjects.

The unique collection in volume 1 includes important statements on inspiration, her work as messenger of the Lord, and the processes by which God communicates His will to the human family.  It also includes fresh insights on Christian experience, soul wining, and the struggle between the forces of righteousness and the forces of evil for the allegiance of God's people.

Of special value are messages presenting Christ in the central truths of the Advent message, and those that offer practical instruction, warnings, and counsel for the church.

Counsels in volume 2 deal with a wide range of topics from fanaticism, sensational teachings, and false religious movements to unwise affiliations, the use of medicinal agencies, comfort to the aged, and remuneration for the Christian workers.  General counsels include such topics as voting, proper attitude in prayer, and miraculous healing.

The seven messages that make up the final section of the book brim with confidence in the ultimate triumph of the church.

The 3rd volume opens with a definition of the church, followed by a call for unity.  Succeeding topics include inspiration, the Incarnation, standards, healthful living, education, last-day events, and Ellen White's use of literary assistants.  These and other subjects in the volume draw the reader closer to Christ and provide guidance on practical Christian living.
